First Steps

  1. Join our club Discord Β (and Teams)

This is our primary hub of communication for the entire club. Stay up to date with general club events, peek in on the progress of other projects, ask and answer your questions, and help build our community!

  2. Officially join the club on Engage

As a Northeastern club, we need to prove we have members! Sign in with your NU credentials and officially join our club. This will help us secure more funding and resources, so it is vital all of our members take this step! This will also automatically sign you up for our club-wide email list.

  3. Read through the Club Overview and Lab Guidelines

How to Get Involved

  1. Join an existing project

This is how most of our members dedicate their time in the club. Our projects are open to members of all skill levels. Upperclassmen and project leads are expected to help guide and teach students with less experience. To begin:

  2. Start your own project

If you have prior experience in robotics and an exciting idea for a robotics project in mind, this might be a good path for you. There is an application process for new project proposals in order to secure club support and funding. Please see our How to Start a Project Guide for more information.

  3. Sign up for the Intro to Robotics Course

Never worked on a project before and really unsure where to start? This semester-long course has sign-ups in the first few weeks of the Fall and Spring semesters. Space is limited, so be sure to pay attention to announcements early on in the semester and apply right away.

  4. Attend general club events

If you don’t have time to commit to a project this semester but still want to stay involved with the club, turn on your notifications and stay tuned for general club events throughout the semester.

Club Structure

Welcome to NURobotics! This club is a student-run umbrella organization that provides support, resources, and community to ongoing robotics projects. Club activities can be divided into four main sections:

  1. General Club

These meetings will be open to all members. They may include:

  2. Student-Driven Group Projects

Every semester, NURobotics supports ongoing and new robotics projects run by student project leads and kept alive by passionate participants. These projects meet weekly at various times. They are open to all students who are curious about robotics, regardless of prior experience. Our project leads and upperclassmen are always happy to support students taking their first steps into robotics.

  3. Educational Programs

    Intro to Robotics Course:

Robotics is a complicated discipline and can have a steep learning curve. For students who would prefer to gain some foundational knowledge and experience in robotics before committing to a larger project, NURobotics hosts a semester-long Intro Course every Fall and Spring. In this course, students will:

Note that seats to this program are limited due to limited lab space. If you want to join this program, pay attention to announcements about the course at the beginning of the Fall or Spring semester and apply early!

  4. General Meeting Workshops and Crash Courses

Throughout the semester, the general club may host crash courses on aspects of robotics. These can range from the fundamentals of software, electrical, and mechanical, to workshops on generative design, best design practices, and more!
