NURobotics has full access to the 440A room at the back of Richards 440. This is our makerspace, equipped with 3D printers, soldering kits, tools, storage spaces, and more!
Please note that the RI 440 lab space is currently under renovation until mid-September 2022. We will not have access to the space until renovations are complete. If you need to store items for a project or access to a makerspace, it will need to go elsewhere. Contact Naomi Cooke ([email protected]) for information on your options.
Our lab manager for the Fall 2022 semester is Philip Andress ([email protected]).
Three main important things: don’t do anything that puts yourself or others at risk, don’t leave a mess, and don’t ‘borrow’ anything that doesn’t belong to you. In addition to those requirements please be respectful of the extremely compact space that we have to operate in.
See the training section to learn requirements about using tools and equipment.
If you have any questions or just want to learn more about the lab, shoot the lab manager a message on teams or via [email protected]
In our lab we have a variety of hand tools, a drill & impact driver, a soldering station, six Prusa FDM 3D printers, one Formlabs Form 3+ resin printer, one Glowforge laser cutter, and a Mayku vacuum former. The latter three machines require that you get qualified by a Lab Manager in order to use them. Please, reach out Philip via teams at [email protected] so that we can get you qualified.
The general space is available for club use, but we are not permitted to take any equipment from the cabinets or shelves around the room as these are used in lab classes for Professor Smyser. This general space is shared with classes and the university. Clean up after yourself, treat it carefully, and do not interfere with anything that doesn’t belong to our club!
Rules from Professor Smyser:
